Boy, do I know how you feel. I was at the same place. Everyone that I needed credit from wanted me to personally sign for everything and it really began to hurt my personal credit.

I began talking to some business owners that had been in business for years to find out that even they had not successfully built a business credit profile either. They did not really know how.

I was truly perplexed. So, out of frustration I began digging in and spending hundreds of hours finding out what it took to build REAL business credit.

Here are 3 things that I really needed:

I needed was some trade lines. You know; office supplies and specialty items that pertained to running my company without having to pay upfront. I needed those 30 days of cash flow, so that I could bill my customer and get the money in.
I needed a real credit card. One that didn’t charge me 24.99%
I also needed a Credit Line to help with times when the money didn’t come in and I could still make payroll. Everywhere I went, I heard you haven’t been in business 2 years yet. It did not matter to them that we had run a successful company for over 20 years in the same field, had a two million dollar credit line and had sold our business several years prior. All they could see was that we were new.

Just to keep you in the loop – our company is currently just over 1 year old and we are getting everything in place to qualify for a legitimate credit line from a real bank.

In all the research was doing online, I found out that I could spend anywhere from $1500 - $5000 and a company that specialized in building business credit would “somewhat” do it for me. But I still had to do a lot of the legwork. I thought, what in the world does the small and medium size businesses do? Those businesses that don’t have money to waste on a “hope” that a company they just gave a lot of money to would actually come through for them.

I also found some companies who had some “do it yourself” kits put together and you had to spend AT LEAST $500 AND UP to join them. Then they had a $49+ monthly fee.
